Sunscreen Titanium Dioxide-Does Skittles Contain Titanium Dioxide

Skittles, the popular chewy fruit-flavored candy made by Wrigley, has historically contained titanium dioxide (E171), an ingredient used as a whitening agent in foods. However, in response to consumer concerns and scientific studies suggesting potential health risks, such as titanium dioxide possibly being a carcinogen when inhaled as a fine dust, some manufacturers have been phasing out its use in food products. As of my last update, Mars, Incorporated, the parent company of Wrigley, has committed to removing titanium dioxide from its products, including Skittles, by the end of 2021.

Therefore, if you are purchasing Skittles after this period, they should no longer contain titanium dioxide. However, it’s always a good idea to check the ingredients list on the packaging to be sure, as formulations can change and companies may update their recipes at different times in different regions.
